Company History
San
Francisco Gravel Company was opened for business in 1925 by Francesco Nicolai,
an Italian immigrant from Lucca, Italy. His son, Julio, employed in 1933, worked
his way from the bottom rung of the warehouse to the top position of President.
As the industry changed, so did San Francisco Gravel. The gravel company diversified
to provide lathing, plastering, drywall, metal products, and roofing materials.
In 1958, Julio's son, Michael, began working at the family business. Michael continues
to run the business to the present day. How
has San Francisco Gravel prospered for so long in such a competitive industry?
One word: Service. San Francisco Gravel has relied on quality service and received
customer loyalty since Francesco turned a small horse stable into a major supplier
of construction materials. Competition in the building materials industry is stiff,
but dependability is critical. Our reputation is built on our reliability. This
reliability allows hundreds of contractors to depend on us for quick, cost effective
service. In this industry, every second counts. In this new age of diminished
loyalty, San Francisco Gravel has been able to maintain a family oriented business
that respects the needs of all our customers. |
